摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate three-dimensional positions of eyeball centers with excellent accuracy without carrying out calibration.SOLUTION: A face position and posture estimating section 24 estimates three-dimensional position and posture of a face from a face image. Pupil center positions of eyes on the face image are detected in each of right and left eyes by a two-dimensional pupil center position detecting section 26. Three-dimensional view line vectors going from three-dimensional positions of eyeball centers to three-dimensional positions of the pupil centers set in advance in a face model coordinate system are calculated in the right and left eyes respectively in a time series based on the three-dimensional position and posture of the face estimated by a view line calculating section 28 and the detected two-dimensional positions of pupil centers of the eyes. Optimal values of the three-dimensional positions of each of the eyeball centers of the right and left eyes in the face model coordinate system are estimated by an optimal value estimating section 32 such that error of the three-dimensional positions of visual tasks of each of the right and left eyes becomes minimal.
