A fuel cell system that supplies an anode gas and a cathode gas to a fuel cell to generate electricity is provided with: a valve that is provided within the fuel cell system and is driven by a stepping motor; a stop-time valve control unit that, when stopping is required of the fuel cell system, controls the valve body of the valve to a prescribed initialization position by controlling the stepping motor; and a valve initialization unit that, when there is a startup requirement for the fuel cell system, rotates the stepping motor a prescribed initialization number of steps, which is smaller than the maximum number of steps for the stepping motor, such that the valve body of the valve is moved toward the initialization position. |
