The method involves moving (S1) a ripple filter and a range shifter in initial position during primary irradiation through particle beam outlets and storing the beam exposure data in nonvolatile memory. The ripple filter and range shifter are moved (S3) in specific position where secondary irradiation is performed. The control parameters of particle irradiation unit according to irradiation are generated. The patient is positioned (S6) to secondary irradiation position and then the secondary irradiation is performed in time same as that of primary irradiation. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a device for optimizing irradiation to patient; (2) a computer program product for optimizing irradiation to patient; and (3) an electronic readable data carrier for storing program for optimizing irradiation to patient.
