PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact, low-resistance metal strip resistor, and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: A metal strip resistor 10 comprises a metal strip 18 forming a resistive element and providing support for the metal strip resistor without use of a separate substrate. First and second opposite terminations are laminated on the metal strip. A plating layer 28 is formed on each of the first and second opposite terminations. An insulating material layer 20 is laminated on the metal strip that is placed between the first and second opposite terminations. A method for manufacturing a metal strip resistor comprises: coating with an insulative material the metal strip made of a resistive material; performing a lithographic process to form a conductive pattern including the first and second opposite terminations on the resistive material; electroplating the conductive pattern; and adjusting resistance of the metal strip.
