Provided is a drive device for a hybrid vehicle comprising: a first differential mechanism that is connected to an engine and that transmits the rotation of the engine; a second differential mechanism that connects the first differential mechanism and a drive wheel; and a switching device that shifts the speed of the first differential mechanism. The second differential mechanism comprises a first rotating element that is connected to an output element for the first differential mechanism, a second rotating element that is connected to the first rotating element, and a third rotating element that is connected to the second rotating element and the drive wheel. During travel that employs the engine as a source of power, the second differential mechanism corrects (S3) the reaction torque of the first rotating element in the torque phase (S2-Y) that occurs after shifting of the speed of the first differential mechanism by the switching device has begun.
