Provided are an information provision system, an information provision method, and a computer program, with which it is possible to detect locations upon a display screen which are individually designated by a plurality of users who refer to the screen, and to provide information associated with the locations to each user. An information distribution system comprises: a computer (1) further comprising a storage unit which stores information having a hierarchical structure; a display (2) which is connected to the computer (1) and displays the information; and a portable communications apparatus (3) which communicates with the computer (1). The portable communications apparatus (3) further comprises an image acquisition unit which image captures a portion of the information which is displayed upon the display (2) and acquires an image, and a transmission unit which transmits the acquired image to the computer (1). The computer (1) is configured to further comprise a readout unit which reads out the information having the hierarchical structure from the storage unit on the basis of the image which is transmitted by the portable communications apparatus (3), and a transmission unit which transmits the read-out information to the portable communications apparatus (3). |
