The system (1) has a shaft turbine (10) located on a shaft (17) and an utilizable turbine (20) arranged on an independent shaft (22). An exhaust gas jet discharged by the shaft turbine is directed to an inlet of the utilizable turbine. The shaft and the independent shaft with an electric machine (18) and another electric machine (40) e.g. electromotor, are mechanically coupled. The latter machine is electrically connected with the former machine. The independent shaft is connected to axles (50) of a motor car. The shaft turbine and the former machine are operated as a flywheel. An independent claim is also included for a method for providing a drive system for a motor car.
