PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter for generating a modulated optical signal for transmission over a fiber optic link to a remote receiver including a laser.SOLUTION: An optical transmitter comprises: a modulator for externally modulating an optical output signal with a RF signal to generate an optical signal having a modulated information-containing component; and a phase modulator coupled either to output of the modulator or directly to laser output for canceling noise signals generated in a laser.
