PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary hearth furnace including a burner capable of efficiently blowing a combustion gas and the like from a lower part of a clearance gap between an outer peripheral face and an inner peripheral face of a rotary hearth and a clearance gap between an outer peripheral fixed wall and an inner peripheral fixed wall around them, and a method of operating the same.SOLUTION: A clearance gap between an outer peripheral face and an outer peripheral fixed wall of a rotary hearth and a clearance gap between an inner peripheral face and an inner peripheral fixed wall, are provided with a plurality of burners 4 arranged at prescribed intervals, the plurality of burners 4 are disposed so that central axes of tips thereof are disposed approximately in the horizontal direction, further the tips are closed, and parts just in front of the closed tips, are respectively provided with a combustion air pipe 10 including a first combustion air discharge port 14 opened at its oblique upper part excluding straight above, and a second combustion air discharge port 15 disposed at a prescribed interval with respect to the first combustion air discharge port 14, and opened at its upper part, and a combustion gas pipe 20 supplying a combustion gas to the neighborhood of the first combustion air discharge port 14 and the second combustion air discharge port 15. |
