PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure pump that can suppress vibration and breakage of a relief valve spring.SOLUTION: A high pressure pump 10 includes a cylindrical spring holding member 71 with a bottom that is composed of a cylindrical part 72 to be located in the outer radial direction of a relief valve spring 70, and a bottom part 77 to support one end of the relief valve spring 70 while completely blocking one end 73 of the cylindrical part 72 of a compression chamber 16 side. The cylindrical part 72 has four through-holes 76 penetrating the cylindrical part 72 in the radial direction. Assuming a total cross-sectional area of the four through-holes 76; a total cross-sectional area of spaces 78 between wires of the relief valve spring 70 located in a projected range of the through-holes 76 to the relief valve spring 70; a minimum cross-sectional area of a gap 79 between the cylindrical part 72 of the spring holding member 71 and the relief valve spring 70; as a first cross-sectional area, a second cross-sectional area; a third cross-sectional area respectively, the first cross-sectional area is larger than the second cross-sectional area and smaller than the third cross-sectional area. |
