PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device and an image forming apparatus which can reduce a time required for dehumidifying paper and reduce power consumption.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 includes a paper feed cassette 6 in which paper is accumulated and stored, a dehumidifying unit 61 which dehumidifies the paper in the paper feed cassette 6 by heating, a humidity sensor 80 which detects humidity in the paper feed cassette 6, a storing unit 75 which stores the history information of the humidity detected by the humidity sensor 80 and a CPU 71. The CPU 71 calculates a time at which the humidity inside the paper feed cassette 6 reaches a threshold using a humidity change state in an apparatus body obtained from the history information. When a current time is after a time before a predetermined time period T from the calculated time, the CPU 71 turns on the dehumidifying unit 61 while the humidity in the apparatus body increases, and turns off the dehumidifying unit 61 while the humidity decreases. The predetermined time period T is a time period during which the dehumidifying unit 61 provides a change to the humidity in the paper feed cassette 6. |
