A lighting device (10) includes a body (12) including a battery housing to receive one or more batteries (50) to power the lighting device. The body includes at one end a light source housing (16) for emitting light from the device in a manner of a flashlight, wherein the light source (16.2) is configured to emit light out the one end of the body. The body further includes a lighting panel (18) coupled to the body, wherein the lighting panel is illuminated along an edge of the lighting panel and arranged on the body so as to emit light in the manner of an area light.
