PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of retaining a lock pin to an unlocked position when the internal combustion engine is started and capable of quickly starting control of phase of a camshaft.SOLUTION: In a control device applied to an internal combustion engine 1 including a phase changing mechanism 10 for changing a phase of the camshaft and an oil control valve 47 for controlling an oil pressure in an advance chamber 20 and an oil pressure in a retard chamber 21 in the phase changing mechanism 10, the oil control valve 47 is controlled at start timing control amount when the internal combustion engine 1 is started, regarding the start timing control amount, an oil pressure is higher in the advance chamber 20 than an oil pressure in the retard chamber 21, and a pressure of an oil supplied to a cylinder 24 into which a lock pin 26 is inserted and which is communicated with the retard chamber 21 is set to be higher than a release setting pressure where the lock pin 26 moves an unlocked position. |
