<p>The present invention comprises an optical fibre core (10), a pair of tension members (12) which extend in the extension direction of the optical fibre core (10) on opposite sides of the optical fibre core (10) and parallel to one another, and rectangular cladding (14) which covers the optical fibre core (10) and the pair of tension members (12) and, in a cross-section perpendicular to the extension direction, has a long dimension in the opposing direction of the pair of tension members (12) and a short dimension in the direction perpendicular to the opposing direction. The pair of tension members (12) are glass fibre reinforced plastic with a diameter ranging from 0.7 to 1mm inclusive. The cladding (14) has a friction coefficient of 0.3 or less, a long dimension of 4mm or less and a short dimension of 2.8mm or less.</p> |
