PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorption heat pump and a method of operating the absorption heat pump enabling early detection of airtight leakage.SOLUTION: An absorption heat pump 1 includes a condenser 40 for cooling refrigerant vapor Vg to condense it, an evaporator 20 for heating a refrigerant liquid Vf to generate refrigerant vapor Ve, a pressure detector 52 for directly or indirectly detecting pressure in a gas phase part in the condenser 40 or the evaporator 20, and a control device 99. The control device 99 takes pressure Pd detected by the pressure detector 52 as a determination target value, and determines that airtight leakage has occurred when the determination target value is a predetermined value or more, or an increment of the determination target value for a predetermined elapse time is a predetermined amount or more. Then, in a situation where intrusion of non-condensible gas Ng from the outside is feared, it is determined that airtight leakage has occurred if the predetermined conditions are satisfied, so that it becomes possible to avoid damage of an apparatus due to continuation of operation while the airtightness has been disrupted against the outside of the apparatus. |
