The transmission (10) has a connector (32) rotatably mounted by an intermediate element. Six torque transmission mechanisms e.g. brake (90) connect one of a sun wheel element (24), a ring gear element (26) and a carrier element (28) of a planetary gear train (16) selectively with one the elements of the planetary gear train, the intermediate element or a gear housing (100). The transmission mechanisms are selectively engaged in combinations of three elements to produce ten forward rotation speed ratios and a rearward rotation speed ratio between an input element (12) and an output element.
