The device (100) has a magnitude displaying unit (20) for displaying magnitude by comparison with a complementary display unit (30), which is integrated with an oscillating weight (1). The complementary display unit is pivoted coaxially to the oscillating weight. The complementary display unit is subjected to general pivoting motion resulting from a combination of first pivoting motion synchronous with the weight and second pivoting motion resulting from the complementary display unit being pivoted by a self-winding timepiece movement (10) relative to the complementary display unit. An independent claim is also included for a self-winding watch.
