Stop-inotions. - Mechanism for automatically stopping winding-frames and analogous machines after a predetermined length of material has been dealt with or produced comprises a rotating disc 1, driven from a roller or other member driven in conjunction with the material, and a movable arm 18 adapted to be set in different positions relative to a rod 25 and to be moved against said rod to release a catch associated with the driving gear. The disc 1, driven by worm gearing or pawl and ratchet mechanism from the feed or drag rollers 7, 7a of the machine, is loosely mounted on a stud 8 which also supports the extending arm 18 arranged radially with respect to said disc and furnished with a spring-pressed pin 21 for insertion into spaced holes of the disc to effect the required operative connection The rod 25 rests upon a clutch lever 26, a projection on which, when the machine is started, engages a notch 28 in a spring-controlled clutch rod 29 and holds the clutch in operative position until the rod 25 is acted on by the arm 18. When the rod 25 is depressed to stop the machine the incline of a notch 31 moves a pin 32 to disengage a retaining stop 22, from the ratchet teeth of the disc which is returned to zero position by a torsion spring, the mechanism for driving the disc being specially arranged to allow this. A rod 44 associated with the clutch lever 26 is depressed therewith and allows a stop 40 of a lever 41 to fall into one of the notches 38<a> of a disc 38 mounted on the shaft of the roller 7 and prevent over-running when the machine is stopped. Treadles are provided for actuating the lever 26 and rod 29 to stop and start the machine and a wheel 46 is used for hand actuation of the drag rollers to take up slack &c. |
