A deformable system comprises a basically parallelepiped component (P) such as a beam, connected to an actuator that can bend it to produce a lengthwise curve. The beam, machined e.g. from a silicon or glass material such as Zerodur (RTM), has a flattened U-shaped cross-section with levers connected to its sides (11, 12) to transmit an effort that bends it to produce the required curvature. Each of the levers has a flat rigid thrust section and at least one ball with centering spring strips to transmit the effort applied to it. At least one of the levers has a thrust section applied to an outer surface of the beam's main section (10).
