PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for increasing the volume of a nonwoven fabric having excellent properties for increasing the volume. SOLUTION: The method for increasing the volume of the nonwoven fabric is a method for increasing the volume in a process for conveying the nonwoven fabric, and includes feeding the nonwoven fabric 10 to the space between a pair of sucking parts 35 and 35 arranged so as to face each other, sucking both the surfaces of the nonwoven fabric 10 by the pair of the sucking parts 35 and 35 to increase the volume of the nonwoven fabric 10. The apparatus 3 for increasing the volume of the nonwoven fabric has a pair of rotary drums 31 and 31 arranged so as to face each other, and sucking devices 32 installed inside each rotary drum 31.
