Various embodiments of the disclosure include a component 2, methods of forming components 2, and methods of cooling components. In some embodiments, a component 2 is disclosed including: a body 4; a microchannel 6 extending through a portion of the body 4; a thermal barrier coating (TBC) 12 covering a portion of the microchannel 6; and a marker member 14 extending from the microchannel 6 through the TBC 12 or from an end of the microchannel 6, the marker member 14 indicating a location of the microchannel 6 in the body 4.
