<p>A diffuser apparatus (200) in a turbomachine (10) comprising: a diffuser structure (220) having inner and outer walls (222, 224) defining a flow passageway (236) through which gases flow and diffuse such that kinetic energy is reduced and pressure is increased in the gases as they move through said passageway (236), said inner wall (222) having a first axial section (222A) and a stepped section (222B) located downstream from said first axial section (222A); stabilizing structure (250) associated with said stepped section (222B) to stabilize a separated gas recirculation zone (Z 3 ) located downstream from said stepped section (222B), wherein said stabilizing structure (250) comprises at least one Helmholtz damper (250A, 250B) associated with said stepped section (222B) to stabilize the separated gas recirculation zone (Z 3 ) located downstream from said stepped section (222B).</p> |
