The invention relates to an electronic circuit having a memory area for storing an address table (1) for associating device addresses (A1, A2, A3) with network addresses (IP1, IP2, IP3, IP4) in a computer network. The electronic circuit is designed to produce an interrupt request for interrupting the process handling of a processor when a network address (IP1, IP2, IP3, IP4) is missing a valid device address (A1, A2, A3). In addition, the invention relates to a method for resolving network addresses in a computer network by using such an electronic circuit. This involves the electronic circuit producing an interrupt request for interrupting process handling of a processor when a network address (IP1, IP2, IP3, IP4) is missing a valid device address (A1, A2, A3). Following the interrupt request, the processor executes an interrupt routine for ascertaining the missing device address (A1, A2, A3) and for storing the latter in the address table (1). |
