The method involves providing a cross-section C-shaped or U-shaped torsion section (2). A relief slot is provided with a reinforcing plate. The reinforcement plate is inserted into an end-side inner region of a torsion section. The reinforcing plate is welded on an inner surface of a first leg. The reinforcing plate is welded on an inner surface of the second leg. Longitudinal links (5) are coupled with the torsion section. The relief slot is oriented toward the longitudinal axis of the torsion section. An independent claim is also included for a torsion beam trailing arm axle.
