PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifting device with a fall preventive means compact in the vertical direction. SOLUTION: When a cable 7 suspending and supporting a lift 5 is cut, a moving body 31 is moved from a suspending position to a fall prevention position by the urging force of an elastic member 29 to rotate a pair of operating cams 32 in opposite directions to each other with the urging force of an urging means, allowing rotation of the pair of operating cams 32 toward a rotation urging side by the urging means. A pair of contact cams 33 integrally rotated with the pair of operating cams 32 around the same rotary axis X are rotated in opposite directions to each other, and the pair of contact cams 33 are pressed obliquely upward to the contact surface 11a of a support 6 to prevent the fall of the lift 5.
