Insertion device for a balloon catheter

The device (10) has a shaft (18) that is movable and insertable into a tubular base (12) for moving a balloon catheter. A shaft position determination device (20) determines a position of the shaft in the tubular base. The determination device has a recess (22) completely penetrating a wall of the base. The shaft has a catch (28) i.e. spring, cooperating with the recess to define an end position (E1) of the shaft in the base. The insertion device is made of sterilizable material such as rustproof high-grade steel or plastic i.e. PTFE or polyoxymethylene.
