Wind turbine blade with replaceable blade elements

The present invention relates to a wind turbine with two or more wind turbine blades having a main blade element and a plurality of individually spaced blade segments. The main blade element forms the inner blade section of a partial-pitch blade or the innermost section of a single pitchable blade. The blade segments are shaped to form an aerodynamic profile extending along the blade length. The gaps between the blade segments are sealed off using a number of sealing elements while allowing the blade section to move relative to each other. The blade segments may be secured to the main blade element using straps or wires forming a loop around at least a part of both units.The contact surface of the blade segments is shaped to follow the contour of the trail- ing edge of the main blade element. This allows the wind turbine blade to be easily transported to the installation site and assembled in a quick and easy process that is less sensitive to the weather and wind conditions. This allows the aerodynamic profile of a wind turbine blade to be changed into a new and larger aerodynamic profile with- out having to replace the blade.
