The present invention relates to a terminal and a method for controlling the access of a terminal to an AP. To this end, a terminal according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: an antenna for detecting a wireless LAN signal; and a control unit for using the signal detected by the antenna to determine the signal strength of each AP, enabling a terminal to access the AP having the strongest signal, presenting a query to all terminals on a wireless LAN network in a predetermined packet format via the accessed AP, receiving responses from all of the terminals to determine the number of terminals accessing each of the APs on the wireless LAN network, and enabling the terminal to access the AP having the lowest number of accessed terminals.
