Disclosed are an edge wheel for grinding the edge of a glass base plate and a method for manufacturing the same to uniformize processing quality for an edge by uniformly applying grinding particles without a profiling process; and to raise grinding speed by adjusting the exposure of the grinding particles. The an edge wheel for grinding the edge of a glass base plate and a method for manufacturing the same have a grinding layer on a grinding groove as a dent along the central part of a grinding surface for the circumference of a disk to be partially embedded into a metal joint applied on the grinding groove; includes a plurality of grinding elements at the intersections of monolayer rows and columns at regular intervals. For this, the present invention uses a pattern plate having holes for the intersections on the metal joint.
