The present invention relates to a method and an arrangement for improving measuring quality, accuracy and reliability of line laser based scanners that are based on exact position and/or alignment of laser line. The invention relates in particular to the field of mechanical forest industry and improves the work of 3D-scanner based on triangulation principle. Image sensors are introduced and they are arranged so that laser light from light source goes directly into the sensors. The image sensors can detect the intensity and distribution of the light beam from the light source and can also detect if the light source needs maintenance or replacing or recalibrating before the quality of scanning deteriorates. The exact position of the light source can also be determined if its light beam will be driven directly to the image sensors which will facilitate the repositioning of the light source. |
