Disclosed technology relates to a password authentication method using the length of touch, a method for registering a lock pattern for locking an operation of an application executed in a module comprising the steps of: selecting an input screen, for registering the lock pattern, in an interface unit of the mobile device; inputting a password, including at least one of a first touch input or a second touch input, through a touch panel in the selected input screen; determining the input password as the first touch input according to a threshold if duration is less than the threshold, and determining the input password as the second touch input if the duration is not less than the threshold; and storing the input password in a memory. Accordingly, there are effects of providing high security against external attacks and providing safe and efficient authentication by enabling a rightful user to remember a password easily.
