<p>The franking machine has an ink printing device with exchangeable ink cartridges. The lower housing shell of a security housing of the franking machine (1) has a sealable, shaft-shaped opening in the floor and is designed accordingly to accommodate assemblies (15, 16.1, 16.2, 17) that can be contaminated with ink, which assemblies are situated in an insecure region of the franking machine (1) and are accessible via the aforementioned opening when a cover (5.5) of the shaft-shaped opening (5.2) is opened. A servicing method should in particular improve the ability to refit the franking machine for a different ink color. After moving the print carriage in one direction and opening a cartridge flap, the ink cartridges can be removed. A displacement of the print carriage takes place after closing the cartridge flap, wherein the print carriage is moved in the opposite direction so that said print carriage arrives in the sealing position for ink cartridges. A box-shaped mod can now be removed from the franking machine. The servicing of the ink-contaminated modules (15, 16.1, 16.2, 17) subsequently takes place via the aforementioned opening.</p> |
