Process for treating liquid effluents and recovering metals, comprising the steps of a) equalizing the liquid effluent; b) ) adding sulfides and metal precipitation in the form of metal sulfides; c) separating solid/liquid from the metal sulfides obtained in step (b) and forming a liquid phase (10) free of metals; the process for treating liquid effluents and recovering metals further comprising the following steps: d) adding amine solution in a ratio of 50 to 250 g/L to the liquid phase (10) with magnesium precipitation in the form of magnesium hydroxide Mg(OH)2; and e) recovering the amine by depletion and rectification.
