An authentication method between a smart meter and a device is provided. The authentication method includes: a step in which a device generates a hash value by applying an XOR operation value of a device identification number and a password, generates a cipher text by encrypting a first security parameter, which is an XOR operation value of the hash value and a device counter value, with a public key, transmits the hash value by connecting to a smart meter, and registers the hash value at the smart meter; a step in which the device hashes a first additional security parameter, which is an XOR operation value of the first security parameter and a first time stamp, to generate a first hash value, transmits the first time stamp and the device identification number to the smart meter by connecting them, and in which the smart meter authenticates the device by comparing the first hash value with a second hash value which is generated by hashing the first security parameter and a second additional security parameter generated by an XOR operation of the first time stamp; and a step in which the smart meter generates a third additional security parameter by an XOR operation of a second time stamp and a second security parameter, which is an XOR operation value of an increased smart meter counter value and the first hash value, generates a third hash value by hashing the third additional security parameter, transits the second time stamp by connecting to the device, and in which the device generates a fourth additional security parameter by an XOR operation of the second time stamp and a third security parameter, which is an XOR value of an increased device counter value and the first hash value, and authenticates the smart meter by comparing the third hash value with a fourth hash value which is generated by hashing the fourth additional security parameter. |
