PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To synchronize a receiver with a received preamble symbol modulated using an OFDM scheme.SOLUTION: The method comprises: executing coarse synchronization which provides estimates of a first time offset and a fractional frequency offset (300); removing the fractional frequency offset from a preamble symbol (301); performing an OFDM demodulation on the preamble symbol from which the fractional frequency offset is removed (302); removing the effect of an FSK modulation from subcarriers of the demodulated preamble symbol (303); applying to the modulation effect-removed demodulated preamble symbol an IDFT in which at least a phase on the subcarriers onto which the preamble symbol is mapped is modified according to a binary information value of a preamble sequence carried by the subcarriers (304); determining a second time offset from its output (305); compensating for the time offset of a next received OFDM symbol using the second time offset (306).
