METHOD FOR DIVIDING GLASS SUBSTRATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and stably divide tempered glass.SOLUTION: This division method is a method for dividing glass having compressive stress on a surface thereof and internally having tensile stress, and includes a first step and a second step. In the first step, laser is focused on a first depth position within a substrate and scanned along a scheduled division line to thereby form a processing trace along the scheduled division line within the substrate. In the second step, laser is focused on a second depth position between the first depth position and one surface of the substrate and scanned along the scheduled division line to thereby form a crack from one surface of the substrate to the other surface, and the substrate is divided along the scheduled division line.
