PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce mixing of electric charge into an electric charge retaining section.SOLUTION: In a photoelectric converter which has an electric charge retaining section and an element isolation region electrically separating the electric charge retaining section, the element isolation region includes an insulator portion. The lower end of the insulator portion is provided in a depth equal to the lower end of a semiconductor region constituting the electric charge retaining section or so as to be deeper than the lower end of the semiconductor region constituting the electric charge retaining section. |
