PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a glass sphere having high dimensional accuracy.SOLUTION: In the method for producing a glass sphere, a glass piece 2 is arranged on the substrate 1, the glass sphere 4 is formed by irradiating laser 3 having a wavelength transmitting the substrate 1 and absorbed by the glass piece 2 to the glass piece 2 and melting the glass piece 2. The position of a void present in the glass sphere 4 may be controlled by irradiating the laser to an optional place inside of the glass sphere 4 in the method for the glass sphere. A spherical body 7 may be taken in the glass sphere 4 when forming the glass sphere 4 by irradiating the laser 3 while arranging the spherical body 7 in the vicinity of the glass piece 2 when arranging the glass piece 2 on the substrate 1.
