PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a whitening agent in which a material having a whitening action is found from among natural products with high safety, and is used as an active ingredient; and a skin cosmetic that combines a natural product having a whitening action.SOLUTION: A whitening agent includes flavonoid A and/or an extract obtained by extracting bran of rice having a pigment by an acidic solvent as active ingredients. Moreover, a skin cosmetic combines the flavonoid A and/or the extract obtained by extracting the bran of the rice having a pigment by the acidic solvent. It is desirable that the skin cosmetic is used for bleaching application. |
