[Class 53.] The negative electrode of an accumulator consists of a mixture of powdered iron and cadmium hydroxide, the iron comprising at least twenty per cent of the mixture. The powdered iron may be obtained from iron carbonyl, and the cadmium hydroxide from a solution of cadmium sulphate by precipitation with sodium hydroxide. A small quantity of graphite and glycerin may be added to the mixture of iron and cadmium hydroxide. The electrodes may be used with the positive electrodes described in Specifications 325,581 and 332,884, [both in Class 53, Galvanic batteries &c.]. |
