Disclosed are a carrier measurement method and device, which relate to the field of communications and are used for solving the problem in the prior art that a new carrier type cannot be measured. The method provided in the present invention includes: a base station determining that the base station or a base station adjacent to the base station has a designated carrier, the designated carrier at least including a new carrier type or an ordinary carrier; the base station issuing a measurement task to a user terminal, so as to instruct the user terminal to measure the designated carrier, the measurement task including a reference signal of the designated carrier or the carrier type of the designated carrier; and the base station receiving a measurement report reported by the user terminal, the measurement report including a measurement result obtained by the user terminal which measures the designated carrier according to the measurement task. The present invention is applicable to the field of communications, and is used for measuring a new carrier type. |
