BATTERY STATE OF CHARGE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM

The state of charge of a battery having one or more ferromagnetic constituents is determined by providing an inductive element in magnetic linkage with an electrochemical cell in the battery. Current response of the inductor is measure upon application of known voltages across the inductor. The measured current responses relates to changes in inductance of the inductor over time. These changes equate to with battery state of charge since changes in inductance relate directly to changes in relative magnetic permeability of the cell and represent the relative levels of ferromagnetic constituents of the cell.
