Provided are a cell reselection method, a resource release method, user equipment (UE) and a base station. The cell reselection method includes: UE in a cell forward access channel (Cell-FACH) state, in the process of performing uplink transmission using common enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) resources of a serving cell where the UE is located, performing measurement, and finding a target cell which satisfies a predetermined criterion (101); the UE, according to the amount of data in a buffer of the UE and the transmission rate of the UE, calculating the time needed by the UE to finish sending the data in the buffer of the UE (102); and if the time needed by the UE to finish sending the data in the buffer of the UE is larger than a preset time duration, the UE reselecting the target cell (103). Thus, it can be realized that in the process of UE in a Cell-FACH state performing uplink transmission using common E-DCH resources of a serving cell where the UE is located, a target cell satisfying a predetermined criterion is reselected, and the interference with a target cell is reduced. |
