In the present invention, a light detection device is provided with a light reception unit, a synchronization signal generation unit, a multiplication unit, and a light-power detection unit. The light reception unit is disposed behind a plurality of light sources that emit signal light of mutually different wavelengths in the forward direction, and receives backlight emitted backwards from the light sources. The synchronization signal generation unit generates a synchronization signal which is an electric signal the phase of which is synchronized with that of a drive signal for driving the light sources. The multiplication unit multiplies the synchronization signal generated by the synchronization signal generation unit and a light reception signal obtained by receiving backlight using the light reception unit. The light-power detection unit detects the power of the signal light by multiplying the following: the integrated value of the multiplication signal obtained by multiplying the synchronization signal and the reception signal using the multiplication unit; and the power ratio of signal light with respect to backlight stored in a prescribed storage unit.
