PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system that quickly cools a fuel cell after the fuel cell stops power generation and prevents deterioration of the fuel cell, and to provide a method for controlling the fuel cell.SOLUTION: A controller 60 (control section) includes: passage switching control means 61 that switches a thermostat valve 45 (passage switching valve) in such a manner that a cooling medium passes through a radiator circulation path 53 after a fuel cell 1 stops power generation and until the temperature of the cooling medium reaches a second temperature threshold lower than a first temperature threshold; and failure detection means 69 that detects a failure of a cooling system unit 40. |
