PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology allowing a steering state of a steering wheel to be determined with higher accuracy.SOLUTION: An electric power steering device includes a steering wheel, a torque detecting part for detecting a relative rotation angle between the steering wheel and a relatively rotating pinion shaft, a rack shaft for meshing with the pinion shaft, an electric motor for imparting assist torque for assisting operation of the steering wheel to the rack shaft, and a target current calculating part for calculating a target current supplied to the electric motor based on a detecting value of the torque detecting part, and the target current calculating part determines the steering state of the steering wheel based on the direction for generating the relative rotation angle, the rotation direction of the electric motor and the steering direction of the steering wheel, and calculates the target current supplied to the electric motor based on the detecting value of the torque detecting part and the steering state of the steering wheel. |
