摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for supporting obstacle avoidance, configured to support avoidance of a forward obstacle at an appropriate timing for a driver.SOLUTION: An obstacle avoidance support apparatus 11 for supporting driving operation for avoiding a forward obstacle includes: an avoidance result learning part 13 that learns an avoidance result including a relative distance to a forward obstacle during avoidance steering operation when determining that a vehicle has avoided the forward obstacle by driver's steering operation; and an avoidance support control part 12 that calculates avoidance support timing to start avoidance support, on the basis of the relative distance to the forward obstacle and relative speed when the forward obstacle is detected. The avoidance support control part 12 delays the avoidance support timing when the avoidance support timing is earlier than the learned avoidance result as a result of comparison, and executes at least one of notification and automatic brake control, according to the relative distance and speed between the vehicle and the forward obstacle, on the basis of the avoidance support timing.
