PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inclusive immobilization of microorganisms which gives a high denitrifying activity, enables stable practices for treatments and consequently reduces treatment time and treatment cost; and to provide a method of removing nitrogen using a support with the microorganisms.SOLUTION: A support for immobilization of microorganisms comprises a phenols-formaldehyde resin having a peak of fine pore diameters, measured by mercury porosimetry, in the range of 20-1,000 nm and having a volume of fine pores with fine pore diameters in the range of 20-1,000 nm at least 30% of a volume of all fine pores. There are also provided: a support with inclusively immobilized microorganisms in which microorganisms are inclusively immobilized in the described support; and a method of removing nitrogen from wastewater or environmental water using the same. |
