This communication control method is used in a cellular mobile communication system which supports device-to-device communication, i.e., direct wireless communication between user terminals that are in a state in which a wireless connection has been established with the network. This method involves a step in which a first user terminal transmits, to the network, communication request information indicating a desire to initiate device-to-device communication, a step in which, if a second user terminal specified on the basis of the communication request information has stopped listening for search signals for device-to-device communication, the network transmits, to the second user terminal, initiation request information to cause the second user terminal to initiate listening for search signals for device-to-device communication, and a step in which, when the second user terminal receives the initiation request information from the network, said second user terminal initiates listening for search signals. |
