The flow meter has a housing (6) comprising an inner lateral surface, where liquid i.e. water, flows through the housing. The housing has a ring-shaped piezoelectric film i.e. polyvinylidene difluoride-film (F), for generating electrical current, where the film is arranged on the inner lateral surface. An electronic circuit is provided with an output device that is electrically connected to the piezoelectric film, where a value for flow rate depending on the electrical current generated by the piezoelectric film is specified by the output device. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring water amount with a flow meter.
